Add the dance floor, bar, stage and other objects
Updated
In short
On the Floor plan screen, use the slim rail on the right of the floor plan. Drag a dance floor, bar, stage, DJ booth, cake table, entrance, wall or other item onto the floor, or click it to drop it in the middle. Then move, resize or rotate it, and add your own words with a Text label.
Venue objects are the parts of the room that aren’t guest tables: the dance floor, the bar, the band, the doors. Adding them helps you plan who sits near the speakers, and helps guests find their way on the printed chart.
Add an object
- 1
Find the rail
On the Floor plan screen, look at the slim rail on the right edge of the floor plan. Tables are at the top and venue objects below them. On a phone, tap the + button instead and a sheet opens with the same items. - 2
Drag or click
Drag an item onto the floor to place it exactly there, or click it to drop it near the middle of the view. - 3
Put it in place
Drag it where it belongs. Select it to resize or rotate it with the handles.
What you can add
These are the venue objects you can add:
- Dance Floor
- Stage
- Band
- Bar
- DJ
- Buffet
- Cake Table
- Gift Table
- Coat Check
- Guest Seating
- Ceremony Arch
- Entrance
- Exit
- Restrooms
- Wall
- Column
- Door
- Text label
If Lock layout is on, you can’t move or resize objects. Click the padlock in the toolbar to unlock the room first.
Guest Seating is a block, not chairs
Some starter layouts also include a photo booth. You can move and delete it like any other object, but there’s no photo booth on the rail, and you can’t add images to the floor plan.
Add your own words with a Text label
Add a Text label from the rail, then double-click it (double-tap on a phone). Type your text in Label text, for example “Lounge” or “Garden doors”. Only text labels can be renamed. Other objects keep their name, like “Dance Floor”.
Move, layer and delete
- Arrow keys nudge a selected object; hold Shift to move it further.
- Bring to front and Send to back in the toolbar’s More menu decide what sits on top, for example a bar against a wall.
- On a computer, select it and press Delete / Backspace. Undo brings it back.
Objects and auto-arrange
On the printed floor-plan chart, you choose whether objects appear with the Venue objects option. See the floor-plan seating chart.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rename the dance floor or bar?
Not directly. Only Text label objects can be renamed, by double-clicking them. To show a custom name, place a Text label next to or on top of the object.
Can I upload my venue's floor plan as a background?
No. You can't add images to the floor plan. Recreate the room with walls, doors, columns and objects instead.
Do objects show on the printed chart?
Yes, if the Venue objects option is on when you export the floor-plan chart. You can turn it off for a cleaner chart.
