Lovely Seating doesn’t use simultaneous, Google-Docs-style editing. Instead, one person edits while everyone else follows the current plan — so two people never move the same guest or rebuild the same table at once.
When another Editor needs to make a change, they request control. The current editor finishes up and passes the baton, and the hand-off happens without spinning off another copy of the plan. If the active editor disconnects, control is released so no one is left waiting.

Olivia creates the plan for their 126-guest reception and invites James and their planner Ava as Editors, and the venue coordinator as a Viewer.
Olivia assigns the first family tables while James follows along. When she’s done, James requests control and adjusts guests from his side of the family. Later Ava takes control to check capacities, the space around the dance floor, the entrance route and a guest with an accessibility note — while the venue reviews the room without being able to change anyone’s seat.

Can my partner help with the seating plan?
Yes. As the plan owner you can invite your partner as an Editor or a Viewer. An Editor can take control and make changes; a Viewer can review the current plan.
Can my wedding planner edit the plan?
Yes, when you invite them as an Editor. Only one person actively edits at a time, so the planner may request control before making a change.
Can two people edit at the same time?
No. Lovely Seating uses a single-active-editor model: one person holds the editing baton while everyone else follows the current plan and can request control.
Do invited collaborators need to pay?

Can I invite someone who should only review?
Yes — invite them as a Viewer. That’s ideal for a venue coordinator, a family reviewer, or anyone who should see the plan without changing it.
Can I remove someone later?
Yes. As the owner you can change a collaborator’s role or remove their access at any time from the share panel.
What happens if the active editor leaves?
If the editor closes the tab or loses connection, editing control is released so the plan isn’t left locked to someone who’s no longer working in it.
Can collaborators see private guest information?
Collaborators see the information in the shared plan according to their role. Because a plan can hold sensitive notes, invite only people who genuinely need access, and use Viewer or Editor roles thoughtfully.
