Why isn’t it in the App Store?

Because it doesn’t need to be. Lovely Seating is a web app built to work on small screens, so the version on your phone is the same planner you use on a laptop, with the same plan behind it. There’s no separate mobile edition with missing features, no update to install before your planning session, and nothing taking up storage once the wedding is over.

If you’d like an icon, use your browser’s “Add to Home Screen” option. It opens like an app, straight to your weddings. And if you ever switch phones, or borrow your partner’s, you just sign in.

What can you do on your phone?

Everything you need to build and update a seating plan works by touch. These are the parts couples use most on the move.

Seat a guest with one tap

Tap an empty chair and a small “Seat a guest here” list opens. Search, tap a name, done. Or add a brand-new guest from the same list and seat them on the spot.

Your guest list in your pocket

Add a guest, record an RSVP, note a meal choice or add a +1 while you’re still on the phone with your aunt.

Gestures that feel natural

Pinch to zoom, drag to pan, press and hold to move a table, then lock the layout once the room is right.

Every screen in a bottom bar

Home, Tables, Guests, Floor plan, Print and QR Code sit along the bottom, and details slide up as sheets you close with a tap.

Picks up where you left off

Your plan saves to your account automatically. Change a table on the train and it’s there when you open your laptop.

On your phone

How do I make a seating chart on my phone?

  1. Step 1

    Open and sign in

Go to lovelyseating.com in Safari or Chrome and create a free account. No card, no download.
  2. Step 2

    Add your guests

Type names in, or import a spreadsheet. Bigger imports are easier on a laptop, and both open the same plan.
  3. Step 3

    Seat by tap or drag

Tap Floor plan, then tap an empty chair to pick a guest, or drag names up from the Unassigned tray.
  4. Step 4

    Let Auto-Seat finish

Set who sits together and who stays apart, and Auto-Seat fills the remaining seats in one tap.
Honest about small screens

What works on a phone, and what’s easier on a laptop

You can build a whole seating plan on a phone: guests, tables, the floor plan, seating rules, Auto-Seat and print previews. The Floor plan screen opens zoomed in enough to read, chairs and initials appear as you zoom, and short names show beside each chair when you zoom in further.

A few jobs are simply more comfortable on a bigger screen: importing a long spreadsheet, editing many guests at once, arranging a large room, and checking a poster-sized chart before it goes to the print shop. Version history, the Preview chart button and the getting-started checklist appear only on larger screens.

That’s why the plan lives in your account rather than on one device. Most couples build on a laptop and use their phone for quick fixes as RSVPs come in. If the same plan is open in two places, an older copy can’t overwrite newer changes.

Guests use their phones too

A seat finder your guests open on their phones

Your guests don’t need an app either. With Pro you can publish a Find Your Seat page and QR code: guests scan the code at the door with their phone camera, type their name and see their table.

The page shows only names and tables (plus meals or tablemates if you switch them on), updates by itself when you move someone, and comes down a few days after the wedding. Change a table from your phone at the venue and the next guest who scans sees the new one.

Example: Olivia & James, between meetings

Fictional sample data, used to demonstrate the product.

Olivia built the plan for their 126-guest reception on her laptop one Sunday: imported the guest list, drew the room and let Auto-Seat fill the tables around the family tables she’d placed herself.

On Tuesday, two RSVPs arrive while she’s on the bus. She opens Lovely Seating on her phone, marks one guest as declined, and drags a new plus-one from the Unassigned tray onto the empty chair beside their partner. It takes under a minute, and the plan on her laptop is already up to date when she gets home.

At the venue walk-through, James zooms into the floor plan on his phone to show the coordinator where the head table goes, and locks the layout so a stray swipe can’t move it.

A native app, or a planner in your browser?

Plenty of seating apps live in the App Store. Here’s what changes when the whole planner runs in your browser instead.

Typical app-store app

Tied to one device

  • Install it first, then keep it updated
  • Some are iPhone-only or Android-only
  • Some phone editors do less than the desktop version
  • Helping usually means installing the same app
  • A big chart is hard to check on a phone screen
Lovely Seating

One plan on every device

  • Open a browser and sign in
  • Works on iPhone, Android, tablets and computers
  • The same planner on every screen size
  • Invite your partner or planner to the same plan (Pro)
  • Build on a laptop, fix on your phone

Lovely Seating saves your plan to your account over the internet, so keep a connection while you plan. It isn’t designed as an offline app.

Who plans seating on their phone?

Couples with busy weeks

Do the big build at a desk, then keep the plan current from your phone as RSVPs, plus-ones and meal choices arrive at awkward times.

Wedding planners on site

Check a table or move a guest during a venue walk-through without opening a laptop. Managing several weddings? The Agency plan ($79/month) covers unlimited weddings from one account.

Good to know before you start

There’s no native app

Lovely Seating isn’t in the App Store or Google Play. It’s a web app that runs in Safari, Chrome and other modern browsers, and you can add it to your home screen.

Plan with a connection

Your plan loads from and saves to your account, so use mobile data or wifi while you edit. It isn’t designed as an offline app.

One item at a time on a phone

On a small screen you select one table or object at a time. Multi-select and bulk editing are easier on a computer.

Exports are part of Pro

You can preview every printable chart on your phone for free, with a light watermark. Downloads, the QR guest page and collaboration are part of Pro ($39 one-time, one wedding).

Mobile seating chart app questions

Is there a Lovely Seating app to download?

No. Lovely Seating runs in your phone’s browser, so there’s nothing to install from the App Store or Google Play. Open lovelyseating.com, sign in, and use your browser’s Add to Home Screen option if you want an icon.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in current versions of Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android, and on tablets such as the iPad, as well as on Windows and Mac computers.

Is the mobile version free?

Yes. There’s one Lovely Seating, and building your plan is free on every device, with unlimited guests and tables and Auto-Seat included. Pro ($39 one-time for one wedding) adds downloads, the QR guest page, collaboration and version history.

Will changes on my phone show on my laptop?

Yes. Your plan saves to your account automatically, so you see the latest version on any device you sign in on. An older copy open somewhere else can’t overwrite newer changes.

Can I print or download my seating chart from my phone?

You can preview every export from the Print tab on your phone. With Pro you can download them there too, though checking a large poster-sized chart is easier on a bigger screen.

Can my partner use it on their phone at the same time?

With Pro you can invite your partner or planner to the same plan. One person edits at a time and can hand over editing, so changes never collide, and everyone else sees the current plan.

Keep planning
