How many tables do you need for your guest count?
Every guest count we cover, side by side. Table counts are guest tables only; the “head table” column seats 10 people at the head table and the rest at rounds of 10. The display column is the page size Lovely Seating's export picks for an alphabetical list of that many names.

Room sizes include a dance floor, bar, buffet, DJ, cake table and head table, using the allowances from our venue capacity calculator. They're planning figures; your venue's seated capacity is the real limit.
How do you choose the right table size?
Start with what your venue or rental company stocks, then pick the comfortable seat count for it. Squeezing in the maximum saves a table or two but makes dinner cramped, especially with chargers and centrepieces.
- 60-inch round, 8 guests: the comfortable default and the size most venues have. Seats 10 at a squeeze.
- 72-inch round, 10 guests: fewer tables for big weddings; worth it from about 150 guests. Seats 12 at a squeeze.
- 8-ft banquet, 8 guests: the most compact per guest when set end to end in rows; good for long rooms and family-style dinners.
- Mix them: long tables for big families near the couple, rounds for everyone else.
- Keep slack: when a size fills every table exactly, plan a few extra seats for late RSVPs.
If your number falls between the pages below, the wedding table calculator gives the count for any guest total and table size, and hands it straight to a free plan.

Frequently asked questions
How do I work out how many tables I need?
+
Divide your guest count by the seats at each table and round up, then add a head or sweetheart table. At 8 per 60-inch round, 100 guests need 13 tables; at 10 per 72-inch round they need 10.
Should I seat 8 or 10 guests per table?
+
Eight at a 60-inch round is the comfortable default and suits most venues. Ten works best at a 72-inch round and saves tables, centrepieces and linens, which adds up at 150 guests and above.
How much room do wedding guests need?
+
Allow roughly 10 sq ft per guest at long tables and 12–13 sq ft per guest at round tables, plus the dance floor, bar, buffet and DJ. That works out at about 1,250–1,450 sq ft for 50 guests and 4,400–5,300 sq ft for 300.
Should the guest count include the couple and wedding party?
+
Yes. Count everyone who needs a chair at the reception, including the two of you, the wedding party and children old enough for their own seat. Then subtract whoever sits at the head or sweetheart table to get the guest tables.
