Several layers of protection

Autosave keeps your work. Undo, version history and backups help when the saved work itself needs to change — each for a different kind of mistake.

Restore an earlier version

Lovely Seating keeps automatic snapshots of your plan. Pick an earlier one — including the point before you ran Auto-Seat — and roll back to it.

Always know it’s saved

A clear pill shows Saving, Saved, or Changes not saved — with a Retry if a connection hiccups, so nothing is silently lost.

Undo and redo

Step back through recent moves, assignments and deletions — and forward again to compare. Keyboard shortcuts on a laptop.

Safe across browser tabs

Open the plan in two tabs and Lovely Seating keeps them in order — no accidental clobbering of your latest work.

Download your own backup

Export the whole plan as a JSON backup, duplicate it to try a different direction, or archive one you’re done with.

How recovery works

Four ways back, for four kinds of mistake

  1. Step 1

    Autosave

Every change is recorded automatically, with a visible saved status — no save button to remember.
  2. Step 2

    Undo & redo

Reverse a recent move, assignment or deletion in a click — or right from the toast that confirms it.
  3. Step 3

    Version history

Roll the whole plan back to an earlier automatic snapshot when a bigger change wasn’t right.
  4. Step 4

    Backup

Download a complete JSON copy to keep on your own device and re-import later.
Recent changes

Undo the change you just made

Autosave records the latest plan — but sometimes the latest change isn’t the one you wanted. Undo reverses a recent action without opening an older copy of the whole plan.

Delete the wrong guest and the confirmation toast offers an immediate Undo — the guest comes back with their table assignment intact. Move a household to the wrong table and step back, then redo to compare. Undo recovers the change, not the entire plan.

On a laptop, ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z work too.

Bigger changes

Restore an earlier arrangement

Undo is for recent actions; version history is for larger changes or decisions made further back. Lovely Seating quietly snapshots your plan as you work, so you can return to an earlier state.

Roll back to any snapshot — a handy one is the point just before you ran Auto-Seat. And restoring is itself undoable: if the older version isn’t right, undo the restore or pick a newer one. Nothing is lost in the process.

Version history and one-click restore are on eligible paid plans.

Example: safely changing Olivia & James’s plan

Fictional sample data, used to demonstrate the product.

Their plan is nearly done when the venue asks them to move two tables off the dance floor. Olivia nudges Table 8 too far and uses Undo to put it back. Later James removes the wrong guest and recovers them from the Undo toast, table assignment and all.

They run Auto-Seat for the remaining guests, then decide they preferred the earlier arrangement — so they restore the pre-Auto-Seat version without rebuilding the tables by hand. Before handing files to their planner, they download a complete backup for their own records.

Four different problems, four different ways back — none of them a rebuild.

A saved file — or a plan with a way back

Autosave stops work from being lost. But a saved change can still be a mistake — that’s where the other layers come in.

One saved file

Saved, but stuck

  • The wrong move is now the saved version
  • No quick way to reverse one action
  • No earlier state to return to
  • Re-save over your own good work
  • Rebuild by hand to undo a big change
With Lovely Seating

Saved, and recoverable

  • Autosave records every change
  • Undo & redo reverse recent actions
  • Version history restores an earlier plan
  • Restoring is itself undoable
  • A downloadable backup you control

Autosave prevents lost work; undo and version history help when the saved work itself needs to change. A JSON backup is for restoring an editable plan — it isn’t the printable chart you display at the wedding.

Made for couples and wedding planners

For engaged couples

Experiment freely — try a bold new arrangement, and if you don’t like it, step back or restore the version you had before. Nothing you build is ever at risk.

For wedding planners

Make wedding-week changes with confidence: a visible saved status, one-click undo, restorable snapshots, and a downloadable backup for your records.

What to know about plan protection

Autosave doesn’t judge a change

It records the work you do. If the wrong guest is moved or the wrong table deleted, that’s what Undo and version history are for — autosave just makes sure nothing is lost.

Undo and version history differ

Undo reverses recent actions in your current session. Version history restores a broader earlier state of the whole plan — review what a snapshot contains before restoring it.

Restoring is protected

Rolling back to an older version doesn’t erase your current work — the restore itself is undoable, so you can return to the newer arrangement if it wasn’t the one you wanted.

A backup isn’t a chart

The JSON backup preserves your editable plan so it can be re-imported. Use the export workflow when you want a printable PDF or image to display or send.

Autosave, undo & version-history questions

What happens before Auto-Seat changes my assignments?

Lovely Seating snapshots your plan automatically as you work, so the arrangement from just before you ran Auto-Seat is captured. If you don’t like the suggestion, restore that snapshot instead of rebuilding by hand.

How many changes can I undo?

Lovely Seating keeps a recent undo/redo history so you can step back through your latest actions. For bigger or older changes, use version history to restore an earlier snapshot.

Does restoring a version erase my current arrangement?

No. Restoring rolls the plan back to a snapshot, but the restore is itself undoable — you can undo it right away or restore a newer version, so your current work isn’t lost in the process.

Can I download a copy of the complete editable plan?

Yes. You can download a JSON backup of the whole plan and re-import it later to restore it. That’s different from downloading a printable chart — the backup is for editing, not display.

Can I use the backup in another seating app?

The JSON backup is designed for restoring in Lovely Seating. It isn’t a universal interchange format for other seating tools.

What if I have the plan open in two browser tabs?

Lovely Seating includes multi-tab safety so your latest work isn’t accidentally clobbered when the same plan is open in more than one tab.

Can I recover a permanently deleted plan?

Archiving a plan and deleting a guest are recoverable, but a plan you permanently delete after confirming may not be. Keep a downloaded backup if you want an extra safety copy.

Is version history included on every plan?

Automatic saving and undo are available while you build. Full version history and one-click restore are on eligible paid plans — see the pricing page for the current details.

Make changes with a way back

Build, test and revise your wedding seating plan knowing recent mistakes, earlier arrangements and complete backups can all be recovered.
