Undo and redo

Updated

In short

Click the Undo arrow in the top bar, or press Cmd+Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows, to reverse your last change. Redo is Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y. You can step back up to 60 changes. Undo history resets when you reload, switch seating plans or restore a version.

Moved the wrong guest? Deleted a table you needed? Undo puts it back. It works for almost every change you make in a wedding: guests, tables, seating and the floor plan.

How to undo and redo

With the buttons

Use the curved arrows in the top bar, labelled Undo and Redo. They’re greyed out when there’s nothing to undo or redo. On a phone, they only show on the Floor plan screen, where you need them most.

With the keyboard

  • Undo: ⌘ Z on a Mac, Ctrl Z on Windows.
  • Redo: ⌘ ⇧ Z on a Mac, Ctrl Y or Ctrl Shift Z on Windows.

The shortcuts don’t work while your cursor is in a text box. There, they undo your typing instead, like anywhere else. Click outside the box first.

Quick undo after deleting

Some actions show a message with its own Undo button, for example when you delete a guest. Clicking it does the same as the Undo arrow. After Auto-Seat, the summary has Undo auto-seat, which reverses the whole run in one step. See undo Auto-Seat and re-run it.

How far back you can go

Undo remembers your last 60 changes while the wedding is open. The history starts fresh when you:

  • reload the page, or leave the wedding and come back
  • switch to a different seating plan in the plan switcher
  • add, duplicate or delete a seating plan
  • restore a version from version history
  • receive a newer version, after a collaborator hands you editing or a change arrives from another tab

Need to go back further?

Undo is for the last few minutes. For anything older, or after a reload, use version history. It keeps snapshots of your whole wedding.

When undo isn’t available

  • Viewers can’t undo, because they can’t change the plan.
  • While someone else is editing, undo is blocked until it’s your turn. See one editor at a time.
  • Deleting a whole wedding isn’t on the undo list. Use the Undo button on the dashboard message right after you delete. See delete a plan or wedding and undo.

Frequently asked questions

Is the undo saved?

Yes. Undoing a change is a change too, so it saves automatically like any other edit.

Why is the Undo button greyed out?

There's nothing to undo yet. This happens after a reload, after switching seating plans, or after restoring a version, because the history starts fresh.

Can I undo after I closed the browser?

Not with Undo. It only remembers changes while the wedding is open. Use version history to restore an earlier snapshot instead.

Where are undo and redo on my phone?

Open the Floor plan screen. The undo and redo arrows appear in the top bar there.
