Change your seating after publishing
Updated
In short
With Keep it live on, your Find Your Seat page updates every time your plan saves, from any screen, even if you never open the Find Your Seat screen. The QR code never changes. If an update fails, the card says so with a Retry button. Live stats show visits, shares and names guests searched for but didn’t find.
You don’t need to republish when your seating changes. With live updates on, move a guest on the Floor plan screen, add someone in Guests or rename a table, and the guest page catches up as soon as your plan saves. Your link and QR code stay exactly the same.
How live updates work
- Live updates are on when Keep it live is switched on in the Find Your Seat card. It’s on by default.
- Every time your plan saves, Lovely Seating’s servers re-publish the page. It works from every screen, not just QR Code / Seat Finder, and it doesn’t matter whether that screen or even your browser tab stays open.
- Changes made by a collaborator you’ve invited update the page too.
- If an update ever fails, the card shows Your latest changes didn’t reach the guest page with a Retry button.
Guest searches are matched against the latest version of your page. If a guest had the page open before you changed the schedule or menu, they’ll see the update when they reload it.
If live updates are off
You can switch off Keep it live to pause the page, for example while you try out a big reshuffle. Guests keep seeing the last version until you update it:
- 1
Open QR Code / Seat Finder
Go to QR Code / Seat Finder. - 2
Click Update the page now
Click Update the page now in the card to publish your latest changes.
Turn it back on before the day
See how your page is doing
Once your page is live, How your page is doing appears under the card. You and your collaborators see visits, guests who found their seat, shares, and searches with no match.
Searched for, not found
This list shows names guests typed that found no one, with a one-tap fix for each. Lovely Seating often suggests the guest it thinks they meant, like Add as nickname of William Anderson. Without a suggestion, use Pick the guest to choose someone. If the name isn’t one of your guests, tap Not on the list to dismiss it. Only you and your collaborators can see this list, and it’s deleted after the wedding.
What else you can change
Your page
Theme, cover, sections and what guests see all live in the builder. Change anything and the live page follows. See design your guest page.
Your names and date
Edit these in Wedding details (click your wedding’s name at the top of the screen). They reach the page with the next update. A new date also moves the day guest names come down.
Several seating plans?
Your wedding has one guest page, and it shows one seating plan: the one you picked when you published. The card says Showing seats from with that plan’s name. Editing a different plan (say, your ceremony plan) never changes the guest page, though guest details you change there, like a name, still reach it. To show a different plan, choose it in Showing seats from and the page switches straight away. See weddings and seating plans.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to reprint my QR code after changing tables?
No. The QR code never changes, even if you take the page down and publish it again, or change your link.
Do I need to keep the Find Your Seat screen open?
No. The page updates from our servers every time your plan saves, whichever screen you’re on, even if you close the tab afterwards.
Why isn’t my change showing?
Check that Keep it live is on and that the card doesn’t show a Retry message. Then check the guest has a table and isn’t marked Declined, and ask the guest to search again.
Can I change what the page shows after publishing?
Yes. You can change the theme, the sections, what guests see and which seating plan it shows, all without changing the QR code.
