What guests can see on Find Your Seat
Updated
In short
Guests see their own table, plus their seat, meal and tablemates’ first names if those are on. Each search is matched on our server and returns at most five names, so nobody can browse or download the list. Emails, phone numbers, dietary notes and seating rules are never shared, and search engines don’t index the page.
Find Your Seat is built to share as little as possible. When you publish, Lovely Seating makes a separate, stripped-down copy of your seating for the page. Your actual plan is never opened up to the public, and the guest list is never sent to anyone’s phone.
What’s on the page
- Your cover: names, date, ceremony time, venue name and welcome line.
- A map of your tables and venue objects. It never shows names.
- Your schedule, menu and venue details, if you switched those sections on.
- For a guest who searches their name: their table number and table name.
What you choose to show
Three options in Seat finder control the rest of a guest’s result:
- Show seat numbers (on to start): their seat number, but only if you placed them on a specific chair.
- Show their meal (off to start): their meal choice, with the same icons as your Meals list. Handy if guests forget what they ordered.
- Show tablemates (on to start): the first names of the others at their table. It’s a nice touch, but it does let anyone who searches a name see who that person is sitting with.

What’s never shared
- Email addresses and phone numbers
- Dietary notes, guest notes and accessibility or seating needs
- RSVP status and groups
- Relationships and seating rules, including who’s kept apart and why
- Tablemates’ last names
- Guests who aren’t seated or who declined
- Any nicknames you added for search
How guests search
- Nothing shows until a guest types at least two letters.
- Each search is matched on Lovely Seating’s server, not on the guest’s phone. It returns at most five matches, and searches are rate-limited, so nobody can browse or download the list.
- A name with no match shows a “Did you mean…” suggestion or We couldn’t find that name.
Someone could still try common names to see who’s coming. If that worries you, leave Show tablemates off, or add a passcode in Link & passcode.
Who can find the page
- People reach it through your QR code, a message you share or your website. The Share with guests button on the page shares the link only, never anyone’s seat.
- The page tells search engines not to index it, so it shouldn’t appear in Google results.
- An optional passcode adds a lock. It’s off by default, and guests type it once.
- Guest names come down by themselves after the wedding. See when the page comes down.
What only you can see
Your live stats, including the Searched for, not found list, are visible only to you and your collaborators. Missed searches are deleted after the wedding.
Names on the page
Guests are found by their preferred display name if you’ve set one, otherwise their first and last name. Plus-ones appear under whatever name you’ve entered for them, so give them real names before the day if you can.
Frequently asked questions
Can guests see the whole guest list?
No. The list stays on our server. Each search returns at most five matches for the name typed. With tablemates on, guests also see the first names of the people at their own table.
Are dietary notes or allergies shown?
Never. Only the meal choice can be shown, and only if you switch on Show their meal.
Will the page show up on Google?
It shouldn’t. The page asks search engines not to index it.
Can I hide a particular guest?
Only seated guests who haven’t declined appear. There’s no per-guest hide option.
