Print an alphabetical (A–Z) seating chart
Updated
In short
Choose Guest finder in Print & Export for an alphabetical seating chart: every guest with their table, in neat A–Z columns. Sort by first name, surname, group or table, and tick Combine couples onto one line to pair plus-ones. Declined guests are left off, and unseated guests show a dash. It suits an entrance easel or welcome table.
An alphabetical seating chart is the fastest way for a crowd to find their tables. Guests look for their name, read across to the table, and move on. In Lovely Seating this export is called Guest finder.
Make it
- 1
Choose Guest finder
Go to Print & Export and click Guest finder under What to export. - 2
Pick a sort order
Under What to include, open Sort by and choose how the list is ordered. - 3
Shorten it if you like
Tick Combine couples onto one line to list each guest and their plus-one together. - 4
Save it
Click Save as PDF. Long lists flow onto extra pages automatically.
Sort options
- First name (A–Z): the default. Names are grouped under letter headings.
- Surname (Last, First): names read “Carter, Emma” and sort by last name. This is the most common choice for formal weddings.
- Group / household: a heading for each guest group, like “College Friends”. Guests without a group go under “Other guests”.
- Table: a heading for each table, with its guests underneath. The table isn’t repeated on each line, since the heading says it. Unseated guests go under “Unassigned”.
Combining couples
With Combine couples onto one line ticked, a guest and their plus-one share a line. Guests are only combined when one is set as the other’s +1; being in the same household isn’t enough. If they share a surname it reads “Emma & James Carter”. With surname sorting it reads “Carter, Emma & James”. It makes a long list noticeably shorter.
Who’s on the list
- Every guest who hasn’t declined is listed.
- Guests without a table show a dash (—) instead of a table name. Seat them before you print.
- If you’ve set a preferred display name for a guest, that’s the name used.
- The list shows the table only, never seat numbers.
You can also show or hide Couple’s names and Wedding date at the top.

Frequently asked questions
Can I sort by last name?
Yes. Under Sort by, choose Surname (Last, First). Names then read “Last, First” and sort by surname.
Why does a guest have a dash instead of a table?
They don’t have a table yet. Seat them on the Floor plan screen and the table will appear on the next export.
Are declined guests listed?
No. Guests marked Declined are left off the Guest finder.
